WHO experts and international experts last weekend went to the epidemic center of Wuhan, Hubei province, China to investigate the epidemic situation here.

“I know people will look at the data and wonder what is really going on,” said Bruce Aylward, head of the WHO expert group.

Mr. Aylward said that the decision to blockade Wuhan – a city with 11 million people – for the past month was the factor that helped China prevent a crisis.

Expert Aylward emphasized that restricting travel and restricting business operations is quite risky, so it is necessary to proceed carefully.

China began blocking Wuhan from the end of January after the number of infections and deaths in this epidemic center increased sharply.

Praising China’s response measures, expert Aylward also warned that the epidemic could flare up again when schools and offices resume operations.

The above comments were made in the context of the Covid-19 epidemic situation in China starting to show signs of being under control.

The Covid-19 epidemic broke out in Wuhan since late last year.
