The equipment was purchased from the support of businesses and individuals in the program `Together with Youth to fight Covid-19`, at the request of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health.

At the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ho Chi Minh City, the ECMO machine and continuous dialysis system contributed to saving the life of `patient 91` – a British male pilot.

ECMO is a method of using circulation and oxygen exchange outside the body to support life functions in patients with severe circulatory or respiratory failure.

Ho Chi Minh City Hospital for Tropical Diseases is the last-line unit treating Covid-19 for the city and southern provinces, directly providing professional direction for two field hospitals in Cu Chi and Can Gio.

`During this epidemic, we are warriors on the front lines but we are not alone, because we always have the companionship of the entire society, material and spiritual support from many benefactors,` Dr. Chau said.

British pilot, infected with nCoV, `patient 91`, was admitted to Ho Chi Minh City Hospital for Tropical Diseases on March 18.

After more than 60 days of Covid-19 treatment at the Ho Chi Minh City Tropical Diseases Hospital, the patient was cleared of nCoV and on May 22 was transferred to Cho Ray Hospital to continue medical treatment.
